Isleton, California According to news agencies, a 4.2-magnitude earthquake has hit Isleton, California, and there are no reports of damages so far. The United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported that the quake struck about 2.7 miles southwest of Isleton, with a depth of 6.7 miles, just before 9:30 a.m.
Chuck Bergson, Isleton City Manager, indicated that there were no critical damages on the Delta levees after they passed by. However, he pointed out that a new study suggested that most of the levees south of the town may have become old and required reinforcements.
In Isleton City Hall, Bergson reported that he found a rumble as he went up the stairs, and he added that everything was okay.
Cell phones sent out an alert to residents in that region, highlighting how crucial it is to be adequately informed and ready for any seismic-related activity. Interestingly, this earthquake happened only a day prior to a proposed Great California Shake Out drill, which is geared towards promoting earthquake precautions.
Although this most recent event resulted in no significant damage, it provides a good warning on the need for seismic preparedness, particularly in such an area. Therefore, Isleton inhabitants and some other nearby ones should be alert and should also have a prepared emergency plan in order for them to be safe in case of another earthquake.
